NGUNI: The BREED FROM THE PAST FOR THE FUTURE
For a very long time the Nguni
cattle formed the wealth of many African peoples. But with the event of
colonialism these cattle were sidelined, despite the fact of their
wonderful characteristics. Today Nguni cattle are gaining in popularity
again.
The Artist Sabine Piprek has drawn a series of colourful pictures depicting these African cattle in expressionistic style, complemented by a rhyming text. The colours and patterns of these cattle have been illustrated in phantacy form.
The exhibition forms a part of the Future-on-Wings project “Seeking the Continent of Common Future on Storks Wings”. Meant as a contribution towards the UN Decade Education for Sustainable Development, Posters as “signposts” pointing to regional indicators of sustainable development travel along the migratory routes of the White Stork.
